Terms of Service
Last updated: July 13, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the websites, applications, and software provided by BookForge ("BookForge", "we", "us"), including the BookForge web service and the Markdown Converter desktop application (together, the "Services"). By creating an account, purchasing a license, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. The Services
BookForge provides tools for generating and exporting written content, and Markdown Converter is a desktop application for converting and exporting Markdown documents. We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time.
2. Accounts
Some Services require an account. You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. You must be at least the age of majority in your place of residence to use paid Services.
3. Purchases, licenses, and billing
- Markdown Converter is sold as a one-time license. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record for that purchase. Your license permits you to use the application under these Terms and is delivered as a license key.
- BookForge subscriptions and credits are billed through our payment processor. Recurring plans renew automatically until cancelled.
- Applicable taxes may be added at checkout. Prices are shown before you confirm a purchase.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services to create or distribute unlawful, infringing, or harmful content;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the software except as permitted by law;
- attempt to bypass licensing, usage limits, or security controls;
- use the Services to violate the rights of others or any applicable law.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the documents and content you create with the Services. You are solely responsible for that content and for ensuring you have the rights to use any material you submit to the Services.
6. Intellectual property
The Services, including their software, design, and trademarks, are owned by BookForge or its licensors and are protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services; no other rights are granted.
7. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated output will be accurate or suitable for any purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookForge will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid for the Service giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Services unlawfully. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will provide additional notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which BookForge is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
