This Privacy Notice explains what personal information BookForge ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the BookForge web service, the Markdown Converter application, and this website.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — such as your name and email address, when you sign up or contact us. Authentication is handled by our identity provider (Clerk).
• Payment information — when you buy a license or subscription, payment is processed by Paddle (Merchant of Record for Markdown Converter) or our payment processor for BookForge. We receive confirmation and limited billing details, but we do not store full card numbers.
• Usage and technical data — such as log data, device and browser information, and actions taken in the Services, used to operate and improve them.
• Content you submit — documents and text you process with the Services, to the extent needed to provide the requested feature.

2. How we use information

• to provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
• to process purchases, deliver license keys, and provide support;
• to secure the Services and prevent fraud or abuse;
• to comply with legal obligations.

3. Service providers we share with

We share personal information only as needed with providers that help us run the Services, including: Paddle (payments and tax for Markdown Converter), our payment processor for BookForge, Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), and our hosting providers (Vercel and Railway). Certain content-generation features rely on third-party model providers. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for authentication and core site functionality, and to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@usebookforge.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

7. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
